About us
I’m a Johannesburg-based portrait photographer with a rare international Master’s accreditation from The Portrait Masters in Africa. I also earned a BA in humanities from Wits University in 1989. I’m also a pet photographer, creating priceless photos of those furiest-to-us for discerning clients since 2005.
My Journey A pivotal moment in my life was my mother’s passing in 1997 when she was 62, leaving me at 56. Her last words were, “Life is short; make the most of it before it’s too late. You’re not the corporate type, Bid. Pursue your creative passion before it’s too late.” At that time, I was navigating the corporate world in Johannesburg. Eight years later, my father passed away on my mom’s birthday, surrounded by all his children. Witnessing his last moments, I found a profound inner strength. I picked up my camera and embarked on my journey. Despite some doubters who predicted I wouldn’t last three months, today, I proudly mark 19 years as a portrait photographer.
While I would give anything to capture a timeless moment with my mother through my lens, my greatest joy is that I have the privilege to provide others with that opportunity every single day.
