Roodewal Kennels, once a sprawling empire in the miniature schnauzer puppy farming industry, was exposed for its heart-wrenching reality. At the helm of this operation was a kingpin overseeing a network of breeders responsible for churning out miniature schnauzer puppies. Thankfully, this operation has been permanently shuttered, bringing an end to the suffering of countless innocent dogs.

In a remarkable collaborative effort between Schnauzer Friends South Africa and the local SPCA, a total of 320 breeding dogs, formerly part of the Roodewal Kennel’s breeding stock, were rescued from their dismal existence. These precious schnauzers were rescued, sterilized, provided with essential medical care, and then lovingly rehomed into families who could offer them the care and attention they so desperately needed.

For too long, these dogs were subjected to horrific conditions, living outdoors with minimal human interaction. They were trapped in a never-ending cycle of breeding, unable to voice their distress. Many of them bore emotional scars from their past, requiring extensive rehabilitation to help them heal from their traumatic experiences.

Now, these rescued schnauzers have been given a second chance at life as beloved pets, where they can finally experience the love and care they deserve.
